Health & Safety Solutions…On the Road
“We have trainers, and they will travel!” That was our philosophy when a valued vendor requested our safety team to participate in their annual safety training. As a result, we developed three training modules specific to the client in both English and Spanish:
– Hazard Recognition (1 hr.)
– Pre-Task Planning (2 hrs.)
– Effective Communication, Leadership, and Teamwork Workshop (2 hrs.)
In late February, two members of our safety team traveled to the University of Louisville campus to deliver the training to over 124 employees in English and Spanish. The groups were engaged, learned a lot, and will be safer in their workplace as a result.
Special thanks to Rich Allen, Mike Baird, and Rick Stumler of Insulated Roofing Contractors for this opportunity. We are grateful to have made such an important contribution to their excellent safety culture. We look forward to future opportunities.

Professional Development & Success
In December of 2021, the National Association of Women in Construction Philadelphia Chapter published a Member Spotlight Article on the President and Founder of CD & Associates, Inc., Lisa Casiello. Check out the full article; which features her career development, current portfolio highlights, philanthropy, and mentorship aspects. Today CD&A mainly focuses on the pharmaceutical and life science industries, including many Fortune 500 clients; however, Lisa began her journey in pursuit of an interior design degree from Philadelphia University. Following graduation, Lisa embarked on a career in the facilities department at the University of Pennsylvania where she was exposed to the construction industry and countless inspiring female colleagues and supervisors. In 1989, Lisa founded CD & Associates, Inc. and in 2009, the business achieved Women’s Business Enterprise National Certification.
Lisa has taken a strong approach to mentorship in her 33 years in business. She serves on the Advancement Council of Jefferson University’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment. She is an active volunteer with WBEC-East and NAWIC. Lisa is also a proud supporter of diversity and inclusion which has resulted in CD&A being a two-time winner of the WBE Done Deals Award. Lisa’s message to the next generation of young professionals in this industry is, “Create your own opportunities. Never accept things the way they are.”
We at CD&A are grateful for Lisa’s journey, experience, continued leadership, and ongoing mentorship. Congratulations and great job, Lisa!
24th Annual Women in Construction Week
The 24th Annual WIC Week, March 6-12, 2022 was a success! This initiative, created by NAWIC is held annually in March to bring awareness to job opportunities in the industry and celebrate the pioneering of women in the construction sector. We honored this tradition by making a donation to the NAWIC Education Fund, hosting our 3rd Annual WIC Week internal event with companywide commemorative shirts, and a virtual Lunch & Learn which included some amazing women in our industry as guest panelists. We started with a trivia game that focused on facts such as how many women comprise our industry, what roles do women take on in the construction industry, and other important statistics.
The theme this year was “Envision Equity.”
Take a moment to watch this informative video exploring Equity versus Equality.
Following the video, our panelists answered questions from our attendees in order to encourage an open dialogue about the opportunities and challenges facing women in construction. For more information check out NAWIC’s – WIC Week Toolbox Talks and Videos.
A special thank you to our four excellent panelists who contributed to the success of our 3rd Annual WIC Week Program:
